Measurement and Multiple Decomposition of Total Factor Productivity Growth in China’s Coal Industry

Optimizing the industry development system and implementing a high-quality strategy in China’s coal require us to grasp overall status regional differences of industrial development. Measuring decomposing total factor productivity growth is necessary prerequisite. In this study, we estimated (TFP) 24 major coal-producing provinces China by constructing stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) model based on translog production function decomposed it into technological progress change (TC), technical efficiency (TE), scale (SE), allocation (AE). After analyzing temporal evolution characteristics TFP its decomposition terms, also characterized spatial region province. The results showed that rise, with TC being main driving this; additionally, weak SE AE plays limited role increase, while decrease TE hinders trend. There are significant industry, ranking central > west east northeast. Drivers vary between regions or different within same region.
